1.) Read the following powerpoint presentation on design principles.

Effective Design Principles Powerpoint presentation

2.) Copy the following screen shots into your blogs and discuss the major design problems.

Screen Shot 1

The major design problem for the slide to the top is that there is to much writing on it.

Chart

There a couple of problems with this slide, because the font is to small, and the actual table itself will distract the audicence from the information that is needed to be shown.

Screen Shot 3

The main problem here is the picture it is not needed for this slide, so it distracts the audience from the text.

We Are Going

1. Explain why they are “silent and subdued”.

The Aboriginal are silent and subdued because the Europeans came and took complete control over them, working them into slavery and into the life of a “white man”, The Aboriginals also had no say in this.

2. How are white men represented? Why?

White men are represented as what they were outisders, because they came with no knowledge on the sacredness of some of the Aboriginal places, and the ways of the Aboriginals, they just came and saw fit to destroy the status quo.

3. What is a bora ring and explain why it is so central to this poem.

A bora ring is like an intiation to Manhood from Childhood. It was so central to this poem because the bora ring was a sacred thing treasured by Aboriginals everywhere, it states that a mothers child becomes a man, and now the bora rings were used as dumpsites for the white people.

4. Explain their reaction in line 8.

Their reaction is angry and they want to amke a statement that the white people ha no right to do what they have done to the ways of the white people.

5. Lines 9-17 begin a ‘litany’. What is the effect produced?

The effect is to give an idea of how long the Aboriginal people have been here, and the way their life was, before the settlement of the Europeans.

6. Comment on the significance of metaphors used in the poem.

The metaphors used in this poem are really deep, as in they portray alot of meaning, they show how they Aboriginals felt when the “takeover happened”.

7. Comment on the structure and form of this poem.

the structure and form of this poem, really gets its meaning out, it really describes they feelings of the Aboriginal people, and shows that they Aboriginal people have surely been mistreated.

8. Why does Thunder have a capital letter?

Probably to show that whoever the thunder was referrerd to that, that person was either loud, or had an obvious leadership quality.

9. Comment on the mood and atmosphere created here.

The atmosphere created here is a sort of angry one, where they are kind of saying that they were here first, so you get out.

10. Combine comments on its theme, title and conclusion.
The theme suggests that they are not only people, but the enviroment aswell , the title we are going may say that not only are the white people taking their people, but the enviroment aswell, and it also states things of the Aboriginals ways, these things could all refer to the conclusion which is basically saying that the Aboriginal life is coming to an end, the enviroment as no chance, and the Aboriginal people are becoming like the white people more and more each day.

What is an exposition?

an exposition is basically and arguement written down as a speech.

What is a thesis point?

a thesis point is one of the main points argued within an exposition.

How is an exposition text type structured?

an exposition is started with an introduction stating what you are trying to argue and why, then  you come in with your thesis points, just stating what they are, breifly. Now you just write a detailed explanation on your thesis points, preferably in the order you wrote them in the introduction.  To wrap it all up you will need a summary of all this in what is called a conclusion, a breif description of everything you have just written

Are you staisfied with the groups progress so far?

My groups progress so far could not be better, we have laernt as individuals and as a group what an online cover letter is, what a preamble and alot of other things are.

Who is not pulling their weight?

I feel that no-one in my group is not pulling their weight, i mean we have our days where one of us just slack off, but when we get right down to it, we do our work to our full potential.

Video- visual imagery of what you are trying to look for.0
2.) Outline THREE problems with the design of the following powerpoint slide.

Biography

here you can apply the 10-20-30 rule for example:

if there was going to be 10 slides of this particuluar design it wont take 20 mins to present what ever they are trying to present and the font is to small according to the 10-20-30 rule the font can only be as small as 30 point font. 3 particuluar reasons why that powerpoint design is not suitable.

The 10-20-30 rule is

10 slides in your power point presentation

20 minuetes to present your powerpoint

30 point font, is the samllest font that should be used.2. Explain why it is important to make sure that you are effective in the presentation of your nominee.

It is important to make sure that you are effective in your presentation because it tells people that you know what you are talking about, and that your audience does not get bored and they stay on the same page with you all the way through.

1. What do you think the above image is about? Discuss.

I think this image is about how the two people differ in being “inspiring people”, Because Andrew Johns is an inspiring person sport wise, and mother Theresa is inspiring Faith wise.2. List FIVE personal qualities of Andrew Johns.
Excellent rugby league player

Influential captain

Great goal kicker

good play maker

good stepper

3. List FIVE personal qualities of Mother Theresa.
Kind
Caring

Understanding

Person of great faith

 Helpful

4. Discuss what you believe the difference is between inspiring people and inspiring people of faith.
The difference i believe is that any one can be inspiring, anyone can inspire people to do just about anything, it could be good thing, it can be a bad thing, BUT, with people who are inspiring in faith, they inspire others to only do good, and to put others before themselves, they inspire us to look towards the way Jesus lived and take that into our everyday life.
